Maya’s love of dance began at just two years old and has remained a lifelong source of inspiration. Raised in Tempe, Arizona, she trained in jazz, ballet, tap, ballroom, contemporary, and hip hop for 16 years while traveling for performances and attending numerous summer intensives. She grew up at Tempe Dance Academy, where she thrived in the competitive dance world and built the foundation for her future accomplishments.

A proud Grand Canyon University alumna, Maya spent four years on the GCU Dance Team. During her time on the team, she served in leadership through community outreach, worked as Jazz Captain, and choreographed game-day timeouts for their UDA Nationals routines. Over her four years, she helped lead the team to three UDA National Game Day titles.

For the past five years, Maya has taught at two local studios—Tempe Dance Academy and South Mountain Performing Arts—where she discovered her deep passion for choreography. She finds immense joy in sharing her knowledge and pushing her students to reach their fullest potential, a love for teaching inspired by her parents who are both retired professional dancers and teachers. Her teaching style is rooted in inspiration, creativity, and enthusiasm, and she strives to instill in her students the same passion that has shaped her own journey.

Maya is now entering her third year with TRIBE 99, specializing in Jazz, Game Day, and Pom choreography. She also stepped into a new role as the director of a local high school’s dance program, where she is building and developing the next generation of dancers. In addition, Maya is proudly finishing up her first year as an Arizona Cardinals Cheerleader, further expanding her professional dance career.

Maya cannot wait to continue inspiring dancers and sharing her passion for dance with the communities around her.
